Some of the most powerful business lessons I’ve learned started long before I had a business.

When I was a child, my mother—who raised four children at home—had a way of creating peace around dinner time. Her secret? She prepped the meal early in the day.

By the time the evening rolled around, dinner was ready. She wasn’t rushed. She wasn’t frantic. She was calm, and we all felt it.

Preparation creates peace.

That rhythm has stayed with me my entire life—and shaped the way I run my workroom.

Whether it’s preparing fabric ahead of time, planning installations early, or organizing jobs before deadlines creep up—I know the value of working from a place of calm, not crisis.

Remember, preparation creates peace. When we prepare adequately, we can approach challenges with a sense of calm instead of chaos.
