There are seasons in business when everything feels busy — orders are rolling in, your sewing machine is humming, and your to-do list is miles long. Then there are other seasons… quieter ones.

Those slower days can feel uncomfortable at first. But here’s something I’ve learned over the years:

Learn to like yourself when you’re not working.

Learn to work on your business when the projects are few.

Because the truth is — not everyone has your gift.
Not everyone can do what you do.
Not everyone can use their hands to turn fabric into something beautiful and meaningful.

What you do is incredibly important.
Your talent is special.
And you should never let anyone take that thought away from you.

It’s easy to measure your worth by how full your work table is. But the quiet seasons are where we find clarity — where we rest, reset, and often rediscover our love for the creative process.

So if you’re in a slower time right now, take a deep breath.
Look around your workroom.
Notice the tools, the fabrics, and the possibilities that await you.

This is part of the creative rhythm. Every artist and maker experiences it.

And whenever I start to feel discouraged, I hear my grandmother Huber’s gentle voice. She wasn’t a woman of many words, but her advice has carried me through a lot of seasons:

“Keep your chin up.”

Simple words — but powerful ones.
Because they remind us to stay hopeful, stay steady, and remain proud of the work we do — whether we’re busy or waiting for what’s next.

Your time, your talent, and your work… all matter. 💗
